This is not my usual style of writing, I thought i'd post it anyway, and get some feedback.

 UNSCRIPTED DREAMS

Night holds the terror,

Of unscripted dreams.

Confusion and delusion,

Where nothing is as it seems.

Unscripted dreams,

Hidden from sight.

Unscripted dreams,

That rule my night.

Dreams have their own life,

They do not refrain.

Searching for answers,

To that which I cannot explain.

My consciousness is awakened,

By the brightest light.

Freed from the shackles,

Of my darkest night.

I awaken to the mystery,

Of dreams that disappear.

As the images are fading,

Their echoes I still hear.

Dreams are a window to the soul,

Though I’m not sure what that means.

Still, I’ll sleep at the altar,

Of unscripted dreams.

I love this! This is exactly how I feel when I wake up in the morning. A night full of dreams that takes me on winding roads to nowhere.

This is uncharacteristically of your usually funny and enjoyable poems. But this one is important, nonetheless. I certainly have my share of strange dreams. Sometimes they keep me awake at night. But sometimes they give me very interesting stories to write--mostly quite macabre like the one I'm writing now.

Keep up the highly creative and wonderful work… Dreams and all.

You wanted feedback: I liked it. Perhaps it is time for your branches to spread. First of all, the idea is great as is the title. Dreams are unscripted, but who ever thought of saying so. Secondly, there is a clarity and simplicity to the poem that secretly harbors depth. As you know, that counts for something. All in all, I think it's a fine poem. You should write more like this; you would do yourself justice. John

Dreams are everything and nothing to the people who inhabit them. Subconsciousness bringing forth our deepest secrets? Perhaps. Eh . . . We dream therefore we are.

OK, it is a change of pace for you, Michael. But not to fear, you have touched on a subject that all sane and crazy people know about. Dreams are part revealing, part nonsense, and part scare the hell of us us. Well done. Oh, I forgot, they are also 99.99 percent about sex.
