I love her name. And recall being the first of our family to go to college. The fright disappeared quickly with all the fun activity and good grades at the end of the first quarter. Best time of my life. It will be for Payton, too.

Reminds me of a change story: Near the end of World War II, the young commander of a younger platoon in the German army announced to his battle weary troops that there was going to be a change. "You will all be getting new underwear." The troops sighed, they had been in the same underwear for weeks…

"Hans, you change your underwear with Franz… and Franz, you change your underwear with Henri…

When I was 18 my biggest accomplishment was to chug-a-lug a 6 pack in 3 minutes. That later turned out to be a big part of my downfall. Fortunately, your grand daughter is in a city with many fine colleges and universities. She might also take a look at Ohio U. in Athens. It's cheaper, in a much smaller city, and the week days are as fun as the weekends. As for poetry, read from the great ones: Emily Dickinson, Edna St. Vincent Millay for starters.
