Nice poetic points on this "wake-up call" write.

Perhaps in my college days, I would leave a small tip.

It was a game we played about what we could get away with.

Growing up I realized giving a small tip makes one feel small.

Now I enjoy give twice as much and leaving a "thank you" note too.

It's an opportunity and a privilege to say, "I appreciate you!"

Providing a service to others with a smile is a high honor.

Good service deserves to be rewarded and a reward comes back too.

It's a way to show gratitude for what people feel, say, and do.

It's a blessing of love that reflects right back to you.

And all too often, the bad tipper is someone with wealth. And I thought a tipper was someone who used to wear a hat, and then tipped it in deference to a passing lady. Where have I been all these years? ;-)

Serially, I'm in favor of doing away with tipping and paying serving people of all kinds a decent wage. Letting reviews determine who gets raises or not. I have always realized that servers are really slaves to their employers and must rely on the goodness of those they serve for their income. Hence, I have always tipped as generously as I could at the time.

I rarely tip too, but then again I have so little money I don't go out anywhere that I would have to tip. I try to have a few dollars extra if I am going out, so I get to tip until comes in my ship...:)
