The lady who walked with me
would enter her own world away from
duties and caring for others as
we began putting asphalt behind us
then roughly an old gravel road to
a worn path between ancient trees
along a stone-bed warbling creek rushing
to cool the parched valley while
we hike to the water’s beginning
sighting birds wild flowers and views of
that world below and without us.
Hand in hand we would climb in
nature’s sanctuary of purest air
impressionist‘s clouds shading a
hide and seek sun’s yielding warmth
away from the musts of mortals
we trod until both were weary and
filled with inexhaustible joy.
The lady who walked with me
now wanders along an ethereal trail
but today during brief meandering
a quiet presence was felt close by
confirming an ongoing walking twosome
but as yet not hand in hand.
I feel your pain, as well as your hope. This is a beautiful piece. Michelle

Bill This is such a lovely poem of true love. She still walks hand and hand as you said that warmth. I truly am sorry. I can only relate to your feelings but please know my love and thoughts are with you always.
All our love and strength.
Peace be with you always

William, this is a very touching poem for the lady who use to walk with you. The day will come when you'll both walk together again. I'm sure that ethereal trail will be much prettier and better than the one all of us walk now. May God bless you.
All our love and strength.
Peace be with you always
