I am back home after My War, and as
contented as any man alive could be
But my wife is highly possessive not
wanting me out of sight for a moment
I thought it to be my absence for long
months and her love for a husband.
Later she begins crying from deep
within the chest and from out of the soul.
I try to hold her and sooth the cause
but she pushes me away with emotion.
She has to say it all to me now and
this is the way and time she chooses.
Her first words are simple I feel so
selfish having you back in my life again
And that is because three of my
friends lost their husbands in the war.
Each of them called me before I left
saying sincerely how glad they are
For me to have you alive and coming
home and we cry together for loss.
She asks how she is supposed to feel
knowing they are alone in memories.
My reply chokes as I promise friendship
and loyalty with deep respect. We will
convince each friend that we love her
by our caring in memory of a husband.
Awe, what a touching write my friend, you've captured the true emotions of this situation with skill. This allows yet another glimpse of the lives that war affects...outstanding write, well done my friend!
Blessings,

Oh Bill, this poem just brought tears to my eyes, This is one of the most beautiful and honest poems I have read on the pain of those who serve and return. Your heart is just so beautiful,

Returnees of war had millions of words that went around and around in the head waiting for the I-am-home day.
Those at home suffered thousand deaths on thousand days, fear sometimes open the door to show the painful wounds of love.
Man could only have sais it in a poem...like this one.

Such deep compassion conveys what true friendship is. God bless you both and your friends as you deal with the harsh realities. I know He will bless you for your love and kindness.
