After it's over
forgetting is
impossible
even as gnawing demons
hang around
like bad relatives who come
and stay too long
The fog of regret
stays thick
with resentment
born of emptiness
In deep remorse
a thinning haze
may enter
upon wings of hope
cultivating the magic
of unearned trust
while a broken heart
heals enough to
share itself
in love's forgiving
mist of time

This is a sensitive subject to be sure and you have addressed it in a most caring way. Human feelings are among the most fragile things I know of. I love the term "forgiving mist of time." Time is an important factor in finding forgiveness. You poem is excellent and your philosophy sound. I enjoyed this very much.

Forgiving is not an easy thing to do sometimes because some things are unforgiveable..So many facets to this piece. An excellent piece of writing, my friend....
