Boo boos in good writing are NOT excusable. Writers are suppose to know how to write words correctly. Your readers beg of you........
Big Boo-Boos in Wrilting "Please lay down, and rest a bit." I'd have to be a laying hen to do that. Are you afraid of the word, 'lie'? Why not lie down and think about it. --------------------------------------- "The party is for Jim and I." No, it isn't. It's for Jim and 'me.' Do you fear that, 'me" will sound too first person? When in doubt, take the other person out., i.e., "They're for me."(alone). ------------------------------------ "I have the book your reading" Nope. It's the book you're reading. They sound alike, but aren't alike, because 'you're' means, 'you are.' ------------------------------------- "Has she came in, yet? If she is here, she has 'come' in. Never use the word, 'came' after the words, 'have or has.' The word is, 'come.' --------------------------------------- "Its a good movie," is wrong.It's a good movie is right, because it says, "It is a good movie." Its doesn't say, "It is." It says, "A good movie must have 'its' good actors." ------------------------------- ----- One word of advice (Not Advi s e!) - Use the Punctuation and Spelling program, and if it shows an error, learn how NOT to make it next time. After all, it's free and right! If you don't catch it, OTHERS will... and make judgments! With Friendship and Respect, Bill Broome, The Professor, Huh? ��

OH, thank you, thank you! Finally, someone has the nerve to voice some of my most irritating pet peaves! There was a time when perfect handwriting, an extensive vocabulary and perfect grammar and punctuation were an expected standard in this country. This is a good example of what government schools have done for our culture.

Personally I'd like to kill lay/lie... laying them in the grave so that they may lie in peace...LOL Has to be the most confusing words per their usage... you have to wonder what the builders of language were thinking...LOL

Right on!!!...then again...one most apply the literary licence parameters when reading a supposedly jargon talking or speach manerismes.
But I am 100% in accord, good gramma isn't to be put aside just for the heck of not doing corrections before posting.
But I am not throwing the first stone, because I have done boo-boos now and then myself.
Excuseme me Professor...I need to go to the can...ups!!!
