Polished silver sitting on white
Words printed on dark paper
China black tiles next to brown
Black against blacker reflect
White yielding to whiter shine
Enough to drive one mad
Offering minimal calm
Little satisfaction in contrast
Nowhere a treat for the eyes
Nothing excels black with white
Unless it is white with black
For simplicity and beauty
For presenting the best of both
They complete Yin and Yang
An unquestioned antithesis
White contrasting black
Black wedded to white
Absolute perfection defined
When ebony shares with bright
I love thd pun too! Black on black or white on white leaves a little more to a creative mind when the colors wash out within one another. Sorta like infinity.

Black and white; wrong and right; left and right; slow and fast - these opposites are what make the world go round. You can't have one without the other. Life's full circle - these opposites.
In my hallway I have artwork and photographs on display and they are all in black and white. I got the idea from my niece and her husband but the significance for me is different than theirs. The simple beauty that is black and white to me is breathtaking and let's me realize that my lack of color perception means little really.. I really do like this poem!
