As a new day breaks
it lights up the line
where sky meets earth
to present a brand new day
offering fresh hours
for opening eyes at daybreak
In these few moments
seeing a new day's light
beaming skyward
the ground begins to define
our place to live below
that of the winged ones
We hear a quietness
granted for moments only in
the hush of awakening birds
stirring hungry animals
including mankind
who will see beauty as well
Daybreak is a major miracle
offering once again
a time to live and love
and know that another day
brings insurmountable joy
after we reach out thankfully
Dangit!! EWR beat me to it and said everything I was going to say...LOL I think after all the losses I have endured I appreciate each day so much...and when I open my eyes each morning I whisper a thank you. Your 'Daybreak' is much like you, gentle, comtemplative, and a treasure..)
This is without doubt, one of your best my friend. The contemplative flavor of this piece is perfect. It depicts so clearly the cycle of life, and the knowledge of now matter how dark the night, dawn comes. Outstanding work here.
Ever notice how a new infant squints at a new day. I think we become stale somewhere along the way to maturitgy. With your poem you give us a brilliant welcome to the new day much as an infant. Thank you for slowing me down enough to feel the awe of my child as the new day gets birthed!
