Caution is a part of enjoying later years
When many of us are single again
Inner drives point in tempting directions
Where bold situations bring wariness
There is a natural need to develop
And enjoy companionship with another
We are not sure early on so we demur
Deciding to go slowly and be convinced
To believe an alliance promises fulfillment
Through a deepening trust that will last
How else to be ready for and deserve
A chance for happiness again within love
Maybe second time around depends very much on the experience of the first time... in terms of whether you throw caution to the wind or hang onto it! Whatever... however we spend it, no day will be returned to us again and we can only ever make the most of the now that we are blessed to have. To ultimately have found "the one" is special in any lifetime. I pray that many experience it for real at one time or another whilst living out there 3 score years and 10 +++++++++ down here! :)) Love, Kate xx
I remarried at age 41 (17 years ago). I never had any doubts about "going for it", simply because my life's motto has been "nothing ventured, nothing gained." And, boy have I gained. My life is most wonderful, but I don't know what I'd do whenever he should die. Time will tell, but I'll keep your poem in mind.
Ahh that second chance at love... I think for some of us we struggle with the 'Dare I or dare or not' argument. I know for myself I have to guard against the need to compare with the life and love I had. But above all I believe that we all are more cautious as we venture into this new adventure....
Everyone deserves that second chance...I keep telling my mom that. I would love for her to have that special someone to share her days, nights, weeks and life in general with. Time seems to be passing so swiftly these days, the days seem to pass as hours and months as weeks...we should enjoy every minute that we are blessed with. Great write my friend, very touching!
