Back when I was a bold sixteen, I knew everything,
but everyone was too busy to listen. Being rebuffed
and ignored didn't discourage me much, and I went
on for years without amounting to anything. That is,
until I graduated high school, and after a few near
misses discovering girls. That should have rounded
our my education nicely, but I moved into the city
for work and a shot at college. Income never caught
up with the outgo, so I turned to the Army which
was paying good money for men with answers, and
I joined, with a desperate need for a sponsor of my
higher education. It didn't work out that way, but
I enjoyed several semesters in Hawaii, learning to
seek quality above quantity. I am grateful for all
those who introduced me to the broadness of deep
college level studies before, during, and after the
military service. Those determined ones teaching
me how to think, will never know its extent. Often,
I stop to mutter aloud, "Praise be to all who teach."
I think if we open ourselves to the lessons offered we would be amazed how far our 'degree of humble' will take us.. Great way to share your wisdom with us...
Amen! Those who teach have a strong desire to improve our world, and have been called to perform a difficult task. "Praise be to all who teach!" Their job is not an easy one, but very rewarding.
Praise be to those who teach...until they get a frustating student like me with high potential and little application. You had fun, got your knwledge and look at you now!! Love,
Susan
A profound write my friend...I think it is every teacher's life long desire to be remembered for the little things that we work hard to instill in the lives of our students, as is every mother's, father's, grandparent's and each whom touch our lives in a special way. I once said that as an elementary teacher in the primary grades that we are not only a teacher, but a parent, grandparent, friend, mentor, social worker, nurse, counselor, and much much more. Hard work, but very rewarding, especially when a student of many years past comes back to visit and recalls the simple lessons in life that they have put to good use in their own life, the ones that when teaching you wonder if anyone is listening....well done my friend!

Yes, to be valued and treasured... and appreciated, each one of them. And it is humbling to be thanked for even the little each one of us can do to play our part along life's way. I think it inaccurate, the old adage that "those who can, do... those who can't, teach!" In my pleasant experience, the teachers are also usually the do-ers and lead by example. Thank you for these uplifting thoughts. The foundational building blocks of our society in terms of the professions have a hard time holding their own against the grinding wheels of commerce these days. But without them we are nothing. Neat writing, William! Kate xx
