Using an index is a sign of
Literary accomplishment
And I admit to being a seldom user
However
A recent phone call could
Change my practice
A long time friend thanked me
For his copy of my memoirs
Given him several years
Before
He enlightened me on
The value of the index by
Admitting that he had
Read only parts of my book
His words are classic -
Your stories are really good so
I just flip to the index
And find words of promise-
Wow -
The best so far is
That one about Za Za Gabor
Well indexes are important when writin my books I used them for two reasons...to keep myself on track when writing but also often when I read a book I often like to go back and quote from it...the index puts me on the mark a lot faster than having to flip pages trying to find somthing.
