Yes I believe this is true. At any meeting the one who doesn't yell and rant or try and boss others is usually the one who is listened to the most when he speaks. It sometimes is a natural talent but can also be acquired and practised till it can be used effectively.
Excellent: speak softly, calmly. A huge booming voice just terrifies: one thinks they are in trouble. Again. Well written, Bill, with just the right amount of vocalization. :)
I enjoyed this much my friend, and I must add that it rings true. I have found while in the classroom that usually the softer I speak the softer my students speak. Often times I can even begin to whisper and like magic they too will begin to whisper...a harsh loud voice is not necessary to reach the depths of ones heart and soul. WEll done!

very true, especially when talking to kids
I speak in a very soft voice, so they have to be quiet to hear me, if I try to project over a room of fifty little ones, there is no way I can do it, I am soft spoken anyway, lol plus tired and old....so I tell them, listen once, because I have so much to say, I need their attention the first time lol. I do repeat myself as needed when they come to the table....I do crafts with kids...I have to lol
