I can remember the anguish well. My dog brownie had to be "put down" because of rabies too and I was so crushed and devestated too at the age of ten. Some things we never let slip away from our memories.....
A sad-sad situation for any pet owner, the day when those words become a reality. Everytime I have to put down a pet, my world goes into shades of gray and my heart weeps. It seems so unfair that our furry friends don't have the ability to live as long as we do. Touching poem.

William, it's too sad when we lose one of our four legged family members. I just did a week ago and it'll hurt for a long while. Good to write it out, though.
Best,

Children not only do not understand death but they also feel adults can fix anything... and sometimes that can't happen. It's a hard thing for a child to accept the loss of a beloved pet..
Sad write that brings back memories of my own pet that had to be put down. It is a hard concept for a child to understand, even for an adult to accept. I recently had a cat that had been a part of our farm for many years that had to be put to sleep...brought back many memories, and emotions after all those years...well done my friend!
Blessings,

This is a sad memory for me throughout my life. My uncle's dog, an English Bull dog, was put down because of health reason. That was a very sad day and following it I had a hard time. Siegfreid was always a welcome greeting for me and a heartbeat that was as loyal as they come. My grandson is now missing his Lucy for the same reason. There's no way to explain to a two-year-old where "lucy went.
