Quixotic
An old warrior puts away his armor
Stuffs pride into a forever box of hope
Admits that age does matter before
Sliding back into his world of comfort
A realm where ladies and gentlemen
Enjoy active elegance in society’s arts
Folding memories slowly into history
He smiles remembering couplings
Unimaginably sweet and fulfilling
Never demanding improbable feats
Of trendy multi-partnered assignations
Muttering that it is still being done
By younger indulgers doing the doing

Aging can manifest into the thought process, if we allow it. I'm one who will be barnstorming at 100. Love the way you describe adjusting to the hey days of old.

I like your delicate management of the issues in this piece, Bill. Your writing displays a gentility almost unknown today, a remnant of a bygone era, as well as a definitive nostalgia and wistfulness for the past. I also find the terse nature of your work and the persistent imagery and flow quite appealing. Good work.
