Spring arrives with little girl shyness
My walks get longer and lonelier
Beauty is cradled in buds of unborn blossoms
I stroll in gray dullness and remember
What you were wearing on the day we parted
I remember your always coordinated colors
And stylish footwear from Paris
Now they are a part of every woman I see
Your voice is clear and final saying good bye
But in your eyes were words never spoken
I wanted to hear them keep you with me
We went on our way with no more words
My nights now are imagining another man
Holding whispering kissing going beyond
Until my demons of who is with you
Take over my nights and block thinking
While knowing the fault is all mine
I still ask - Is the remembering my penalty
I, personally, dislike the word penalty. I prefer consequence. To never have loved would be a penalty for not taking chances. Sometimes our 'winning' is short-lived, but the beauty of the memories warm my days and nights. I choose to focus on the beauty of what was, instead of letting the the 'what ifs' eat me up. I am hoping that since this isn't a memoir - that it is a wonderful testament to your writing ability.
