I needed a word describing the moment in life when
my mind and body enters another stage which
we kindly and comfortably describe as aging
'Aging' seems to be the good verb chosen to
make us feel better about living with all of
those body aches and pains which aging promises
I'm fortunate that my memory is good enough to
face the inevitable in reporting such goings on
It's rewarding to live into older age so when
it happens to you get your mind and body ready to
slow down and enjoy the rest of the trip allowing
nature to help ease you into enjoyable added years
Fortunate are those who enjoy advanced years
without constant pain and serious medications
but our genes in heredity guide and control in
bringing about an excellent word needed for you
to describe perfectly how we slip into our
manageable and livable term called - fading.
I have a pair of faded old jeans which I like very much--it takes time and a lot of washings to get them just right. They're the ones I always grab if I want to be comfortable. I like the analogy.

When I posted this one, I felt that there would be a few, perhaps one, who might call my hand. I should have known who that would be. You, Me Darllin' - are forever young, so you're blinded when an oldster tries to help the poor blokes who get hit with all that aging stuff described. I like your spirit, and your words, and agree with much of them. Hell, Sweetheart, we're in this as a twosome. In the State of Georgia, USofA, they won't believe my age, telling me that I look, and act, two decades younger! But, they're fibbin' - trying to get into my will and my season tickets the Dance Marathon! You're peaches and cream blasting me the way you did... and I deserve it. With Love and Respect, - Bill
... ?que???? fading???? FADING??!!!!!!! I rather think not, William... in fact, I beg to differ with you on this one... Rather going from strength-to-strength, my friend... It seems to me that the power we can acquire in the inner man/woman with the advancing years makes the body seem more like a wonderful gold-leaf coating, a lustrous veneer through which our aged-wine glistens most radiantly rich... Well, that's my little fantasy and I'm sticking to it, at least! :)) I like a write that makes me think and respond... lets me know I'm still alive... just! Here's looking at YOU, Kid! Love, Kate xx
I think we start fading at birth. Seriously! Can anyone recall what it felt like being birthed, or cutting our baby teeth, or speaking our first words? Excellent poem, Bill. Stay strong. ~ Sara
With age comes life experience. With life experience comes wisdom. With wisdom comes strength. With strength, older age becomes less a burden and more a reward.
I'll have to remember that as the years catch up to me...LOL 'Fading' is definitely a good way to put it....))) Hoping the mountains of Georgia are bursting with springtime... love, M
