Age is relative. And, most of
us agree with that. During my
years this statement has meant
different things. On a recent
visit, I shared the home of a
younger couple with two small
children, all of whom lovingly
enveloped me. It was revealing
being a part of their lives over
two days and nights, hearing
and seeing restrained energy
clash with the need to learn
manners. In it all, I learned,
too, that no training substitutes
for basic intelligence and clever
ways of getting beyond certain
boundaries set by two aspiring
parents seeking peace and
perfection in offspring. Yes,
there were times when I was
the kids' ally, and worse, the
perpetrator. But, isn't doing
that the right of a loving and
determined grandfather?
Absolutly true, Bill...grandparents should be able to push to boundaries with grandchildren, and someday their memories of your adventures will be priceless...

My son-in-law says I have corrupted his daughter. I always ask 'Why do you say this as though it's a bad thing?" LOL I often say that to be a parent of young ones today is so much more daunting a task that I ever took on...
Great bit of wisdom here..

I love this one Bill and you are so right, couldn't agree with you more, sometimes we just need a gentle reminder to the grandkids parents that we were there when at least one of them were children. My daughter and her husband used to complain about a large stuffed doplphin my granddaughter sweet talked me into buying saying it was too big and always in the way, went so fare as to hide it. That was until I decided to go through my photo album and find a picture of my daughter at the same age dragging around a giant doggie someone had gave her...case closed. lol
