Below the skirt her knee caps were as
perfect as two legs moving the body
for getting there between classes.
My job was to meet this fast pretty
girl with an air of determination.
How to stop a whirlwind to get aboard
just long enough to agree on a date?
She cut sharp corners in hallways and
it was there we had our first clash.
Throwing my arms out on impact
caused a spraying of books to the floor.
It was my cold silence picking up things
that did it, as she waited for an apology.
One was not given, and she accused me
of deliberately setting it up, and I nodded.
After bad words, she asked my name.
I tell her, Will. She said it was a good fit.

Oh, the things we all go through to catch somebody's attention.
Just to agree with Dan, it was a fun read.
... bet it was YOUR knees that were shakin when she said that! :)) Soooooooooo... what happened next? Did you carry her stash all the way home? You leave us on tenterhooks with this delightful capture and well-constructed scenario... Would that we could engineer such feats so innocently now! But ain't it just like boys to inflict pain and disaster on the gals they are tryin to get the attention of, and say "I love you"??? Have never figured that part of a male brain... It don't seem to change as they get older, neither... :)) Kate xx
