She is in his room after dinner in the hotel
following introductions by friends at work
He assumes that she has done this before
but her body is shaking with yes and no
She's feeling a buzz from the dinner wine
and passes on his offer of a bracing drink
Small talk melts anxiety while each waits
for an opening to hug and begin kissing
Adventurous innocents move to intimacy
with a stimulating and attractive stranger
He hands her a business card saying that
his name is not Roy and adds a last name
Slowly saying his name she smiles to say
- Our two names rhyme - Royce and Joyce
He tilts her trembling chin upward to reply
- We belong together - before lips merge
Intensity is now desire wrapped in passion
while touch and feel peels away clothing
Her fingering hands play behind his neck
waiting for depth to be filled in darkness
Two are one without talk- only sweet heat
Okay so Dan's comment got me chuckling..I have to admit! LOL This is great writing and shows that sometimes 'the unlikelies' are the ones that work best..
If you tend to believe romantic, passionate, masculine poetry is a thing of past eras, read "She Intrigues Me," and be swept away in the beautiful craft of a contemporary poet of love.
Nice work, my friend...
