Our Brief Encounter

From the moment she crosses her legs
while waiting to be called to see the doctor
she is the riveting target of my staring at
a woman impossible to ignore
The crossing of legs happens all the time
but the way she does it puts
grace and slow motion to shame
Looking over the top of a magazine page
I absorb an almost perfect face
her small snub nose not quite fitting
but cute in a pixie sort of way
The balanced face a study for Rodin
a chin made for the hands of Michelangelo
I stare discreetly until she looks up
knowing I am doing inventory
but not uncomfortable with my doing it
her generous smile tells me so
As I get up to exchange names and
get on with life for the two of us
my doctor's assistant calls out my name

Hey, at least you were moving in the right direction! This is cute and the last line made me smile!

Isn't that always the way? You do these pieces of everyday life so well!

This was done with dignity Bill, for not only you but the lady you were admiring. That is why we make ourselves pretty, so men will stare. hehe. thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you too, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in my heart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & ((((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Good poem, bad timing. So glad you decided to resurrect this, Bill.
