Disconnect the phone.
Ignore the front door bell.
Unplug the television and player.
Make that meal we never have time for.
Walk over and meet the new neighbor.
Clean all those places overlooked before
Repair what ain't been fixed yet.
Take a walk and see what has been missed.
Get up a car pool for a trip to the grocery store.
Paint things and places in bad shape.
Balance the check book.
Call on the phone relatives and friends.
Write letters to those who need them from us.
Clean out closets and give away unworn clothes.
Start writing, or add another chapter to that novel.
Take a long and luxurious bath.
Read that book. .
Wash the car, or the dog, or whatever is dirty.
Find five others who want to eat out.
See who needs help and provisions.
Play games
Make love
Get to know better those with whom we live.

Reviews of "Things To Do With The Gas Tank Near Empty:"
My dear friend...it is pieces such as this that have and continue to make me say, your work is without equal...it has humor, wisdom and yes, even a romance, presented in a conversational style that you do so well. Extraordinary work here my friend.
... the penultimate I tend to associate with the gas tank having got to empty, Bill...!! :)) And most of the rest reminds me why it is I always keep the tank half-full... Kiddin ya, of course, but this is BRILLIANT! Such a slice of real life and tongue-in-cheek sage advice, too. A good way of looking at all the future fuel shortages... Kerosene Kate xx
AMEN!! And one more time.. AMEN! Someone asked me recently what do I do with myself since I don't drive..My reply? I do all those things you wish you had time for..)
and most of all...add a post to the den for we all look forward to your wisdom. This one I know all too well for when my pension cheque runs thin two weeks after getting it, my truck usually gets a few weeks off too.

Darned good ideas, Bill. And maybe we can look up how far a horse will go on a bale of alfalfa. I wonder if that old dusty bicycle still works? Hmmm. How did we ever slip into a lifestyle where we think it is smart to commute 25 miles, one way, to work? Or to use the car to go that half mile to the convenience store? No wonder we are fat and grumbling at the gas-pump :-)
This is my personal inspirational book of poetry. It contains many poems written for family, friends, and relevant life situations. Hopefully you will find some that will encourage and inpsire you in whatever arena you are found in your circle of l
Contraband Marriage, traveling along the hemline of loving after incarceration, is a love story written in lyric and free form, set in reality with a different ever after.
In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
Wonderful wisdom in every line here..
