A young dog licking my face
- - pleasing me like nothing else
Overweight aunts and uncles
- - sharing family reunion eats
All 'A' on quarterly report card
- - family shows pride at supper
The first bike an old used wreck
- - I repaired painted rode it hard
Seeing my five year old sister
- - in beautiful nude innocence
An offer of sex from an older girl
- - if I paid her a whole dollar
My all day work's pay at grocery
- - being only one whole dollar
Realizing that girls are expensive
- - learning they are worth it
Early dating without scoring
- - really scared of husband hunters
First seeing the girl I would marry
- - from the rear - enough already
Marrying pastor calling me Holmes
- - and my verbally correcting him
Knees going liquid upon learning
- - I would become a new father
Children graduating and marrying
- - dreams realized and perfected
A night and day of love's best
- - making up a 50th anniversary
Decades of delightful rewards
- - of an impeccably strong marriage
In these days when divorce is almost more common that marriage it's wonderful to read a well written poem about someone who made it work and happily so. Great poem Bill.
