The five-pipes set of chimes was a gift from me
and from the first wind
after I hung them on
our front porch
she was enthralled with beautiful deep tones
saying they were so manly and seductive
Her chimes moved with us to Georgia's mountains
and ruled the new front porch
along with an old reliable swing
And by spring had captured our neighbor
as she dug a new flower garden
During thunder storms we opened a window a bit to
hear Beethoven-like bombastic music
But the times I miss the most
are soft summer nights
when tender breezes kissed cheeks
stirring our contented embrace
Through the years of my loneliness
her chimes sooth me still
