Shecherezada

A short poem about human nature.

 

Shecherezada

 

Shecherezada

was a bit worried.

But continued to recite:

'…and from that

night of bliss on…'

She went on muttering,

quite perturbed;

'they didn't part,

and lived happily

ever after.’

She ended it up,

watching

the Sultan's face.

with a forced smile.

'I don't like happy ends!'

The Sultan declared

decisively,

and looking back

to his bodyguards

he blurted out:

'Chop her head off!'
