Up in the night sky
Colors float so high.
Raining down in hues
Of red, white, and blue.
Victory is our day.
We are all out to play.
Music and marching bands.
Raise up our clapping hands.
Celebrate the 4th of July.
Let the colorful lights fly high.
Strange, that its initial reason for being was to emulate what Francis Scott Key saw during the war of 1812 with rockets and bombs going off. Like everything else of celebration, it seems to have to get bigger every year.
