A great piece of inspiration and sense by Rudyard Kipling.
I was thinking that maybe i should rewrite it to today’s standards…
Its a satirical parody, enjoy;
If
(part 2)
If you can change your say when all about you
are keeping theirs and laughing at you
If you can trust yourself when all men ignore you
and deem them little for their ignorance too
If you can’t wait long and so shout of your passion
or when being hated don’t give ears to protests
and so walk in too good and sharp to be wise
If you can dream and can sell it with barter
if you can think of only at what you aim
If you can meet triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters without shame
If complaints announce your freedom
and anger, your visions,
If crowd can buy your mind
and in tears, lets you make your decisions
If you can bear to hear the fantasy you have spoken
taken away by knaves to reflect the fools
or watch the things you gave your life to, taken
and polished up brighter with the best damn tools
If you can make one heap of all their charity
and use it slowly for more
And lose, and start again with the pleadings
reminding them all of your war
If you can force your heart and mind and words
to serve your turn long after you are gone
And so hold when there’s nothing in you
except the will which retorts to them “you’re wrong!”
If you can talk with people and keep your merits
And walk with kings nor a one common touch
If neither foes nor friends before, can hurt you
if all men count but none too much
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
with sixty seconds’ worth of fortune throw
Yours is the earth and everything that is in it
And – which is more – you’ll be the Man, bro!
