The Perfect Position or "Sauce With Your Roast Beef, Gran?!"

The Sunday Times, June 6th 2004: "AGE AND APHRODITE: Women of a certain age are demanding more sex. Science says older means bolder and better. Now research shows the over-60s are lustier than their granddaughters. What's going on?"

THE PERFECT POSITION

Glossy coffee-table
illustrated picture book
on the Female Menopause:
Facts, figures, tables, diagrams...

And tasteful pastel line-drawings
of fuller, older
male and female forms -
illustrated with all the sagging detail
of comfortable, well-loved
lumpy feather cushions -
performing the act
of senior love-making...

I was intrigued
by assurances of
The Perfect Position:

Looked to me
like pain and passion
in equal measures;
an upside-down
vertical splits
Folies Bergeres-style
- but without the modesty
of the covering frothing
Can-can skirts!

I work out
and am hyper-mobile
in my joints
but how do ladies of
"a certain age"
manage it?

Perhaps having survived
the emotional ordeals
of World War years
they are now reaping
their long-awaited
and just desserts...

"Lie back and think of England..."

OK then -
if I must!

provocative poem on 'over-age sex' and the sexual politics of our time. Used to imagine myself painting a beautiful naked old couple in the manner of Stanley Spencer, to spite the obsession with youth. And who can forget Harold and Maude, the bizarre love story that began in a graveyard?

LOLOLOL, Hmmmm fun fun fun for any one, now you got me thinking what their thinking, when they smile and ask if you would like coffee and a piece of cake.

I walked past a tap dancing class, all musta been over fifty, they asked me to join, huh and I was thinking about it, they said they would like one bloke to join. LOL, maybe I'll find another route:)

OH KATE,
AWESOME I think it is in their minds most of it if one enjoys a sexy healthy continuation in their relationship and marriage then all of it is possible and you know where there is desire and need it will be fufilled if they are determined..... They are obiviously comfortable in the stage of life they are unfolded in .... I think it is fantastic so much for taking it lying down and being buried.. RIGHT!!!!!
SMILES...

I loved this poem and the ending ;)

Thought provoking piece....
