FRIENDS FOR DINNER

Friends for dinner
Tempers simmer
Portions thinner
Drink makes dimmer

Words then spoken
Truth awoken
No use jokin
Politeness token

Ambiance thwarted
Cheese aborted
Relationships sorted
To the door escorted

Then the rows start
Wasted treacle tart
Age-old friends part
Supper gossip not smart!

Ain't that just the way it goes? Sometimes, when there's gossip, we have to understand that perhaps we have nothing else to say to one another, and we see our friendships fall apart -- perhaps not true friendships, any way. Very effective repition of rhyme.

Gossip ruins friendships. I sadly had to let one friend out of my life in this past year because of it. Great wrrite and in so few words!

Hmmm.. I'd be a well-behaved dinner guest, promise! UNTIL or IF the cheese got 'aborted'... as a Cheesehead from Wisconsin, the act of aborting my cheese would get me thrown out on my ear, kicking and screaming! (grin) gotta have da cheese! You tell 'em, Kate... gossip doesn't belong at the table or anyplace else... I love your quick, rhythmic rhyming here... it made for a most enjoyable read. Good stuff! katy xox.

Oh, how I can relate to this one! And it's always a darn shame, when the cheese is aborted. I truly love cheese!
