I have a great affection for Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks!
OOPS!
If I knew I was to fall in love today
I would, maybe, get a massage
or splash out on that exotic new frock
and those ridiculously stylish sandals
- to replace the norm of
comfy old flip-flops,
tight cropped pants
and homely baggy jumper;
My hair could do, perhaps,
with having less of the tousled,
finger-threaded look, too!
But if today were such a day,
I might miss you -
checking my reflection in the shop-front glass
And perhaps you'd inadvertently pass ME by
on the way to straighten your tie
in the mirror...
Let's face it,
we wouldn't know each other
THAT way at all;
For to fall in love is just that, I guess:
A sudden, unpremeditated
and mysterious moment
of jet-propulsion headlong downwards
Involuntary, unstoppable,
uncomprehending
In short, a total trip!
...Oops!

LOL love it and its truth shines brightly! GREAT write and capture of an event we all try to describe.
Oops is a celebration of what happens in an instant, how a life can change for some "Sleepless in Seattle" guy, how the ever-annoying "You've Got Mail" can set us on a whole new course of romance. Such an awesome write!

I love this poem! Very true ...you never know when you will meet the person you will fall in love with, so always be yourself! I also love Meg and Tom, they're my favorite team! Great write! Very much enjoyed!
"...headlong downwards..." how about upwards instead! Love this one, Kate. Inspirational; lightens the soul! Masterfully crafted.

I love this poem and Meg and Tom. Love that movie, "You Have Mail" this was just a sort of feel good write to read in the morning and contemplate who we pass in the street on any given day!!
A humorous look at the world and life through my eyes.
Follow the author and his wife, as they travel the world …. several times over.
Laugh at their funny stories, self-inflicted crazy events, strange observations, wacky zoo facts and snippets
A naïve councilman and a down-on-her-luck single mom try to save their county’s last stand of forest from greedy developers and a dysfunctional government.
