... Humour may not be a cure, but it sure can be a powerful placebo or analgesic. Be well, People. LOL K xx
DIAGNOSTICS
My worst nightmare: that the doctor would be either too young OR too attractive. He was both. Far too young to be preoccupied with lopping breasts off middle-aged women; and surely his artistic, sensitive hands would be better engaged in more delicate pursuits?
My worst fear realised: malignancy. After the maelstrom rush of strategic clinical approach and prognosis, the discussion turned in a bizarre twist to the causal factors of all illness. “When a patient walks through the door”, he said, “the first thing for a medic to ascertain is whether s/he is mad, bad, sad or sick…”
How odd that it is this part of the interview that I remember so clearly – probably because of the veracity of his words. The sound of his voice I felt I could swallow, following as it worked its comforting way back to its root, deep at the base of his navel. His tongue seemed to debate with his teeth as he turned his ideas over, like pages, in his mind. I reflected on the nature of my unhealed emotional wounds, doubtless sadly festering and releasing their toxins right now into the length of all my bones and marrow. I had to get it across my dulled cerebral cortex that I was actually seriously not well in spite of my feelings of rude good health.
“Mental attitude is critical when it comes to beating off the disease”. The beautiful, youthful consultant gathered together my papers on his desk and smiled knowingly as he summed me up. “Yes”, I thought. “Indeed it is”. I was considering the need to appear before him with some other inexplicable and phantom malaise or rise in temperature in just a few days’ time. Funny how that suddenly made me feel so much better…
Boy, Kate, we're living this now, Karen and I. Spot on, spot on brilliance! I think all medical personnel should be required, as part of their training, to spend, what say, two/three weeks on the other side of the chart, as a patient, to learn what we go through. The loss of dignity; the loss of identity; we are no longer a person, we are a disease or condition. The post op colostomy in bed 635............Karen's main doc needs an IV dose of compassion, STAT!!!!!!! Excellent, excellent commentary; how I miss you....keep both of us in your prayer.
Well, tis a good thing I read your review Kate~ I would be right there praying for your full recovery~ not that I don't pray for all of the people I have met here...I do!
Anyway~ since this was just a write...I must say you had us all believing...therefore it's a damn good one! Smiles!
I had a heart cath one time and I was hoping that the techies would be old, fat and ugly...they were in their 20's, full of life, vigor, and stares...ugh...and there I lay cold and naked...Life can be funny~
Love and Peace~

..Nooooooo, nooooooo, nooooooo!!!! Sorry, People!! Now I feel awful... I'm fine, really.... This is a kind of retrospective, and a mixture of fict, fact and nonsense anyways... the stuff wot I always write! I should beware of mixing fiction with the threads of some real autobiography, so I am truly apologetic if I have preyed on your kind thoughts and worried you. I had another wobbly moment recently with a dodgy mammogram... but twas only suspect scar tissue, when it came down to it! No worries! Upwards and onwards. Didn't mean to send shock waves. But thank you all so much for your concern. LOL Kontrite Kate xx
I truly hope it is just a nightmare dearest Kate, knowing what you've already been through...your humour is the stuff of legend ;)...True Brit! Dark, yet strangely refreshing. Lucky Doc I say, LOl...it should give you comfort to know Mizz P that you are in my (now worried)thoughts...Dave Bond, that's Dave Bond, secret agent and all round nice bloke. Lots of warm healing hugs your way comes.
Blessings
Paul;-)

Kate, It is most important to claim a positive healing approach and yes Placbo it is humor like a good medicine.. Laughter becomes even in the face of life and death assualts in our human forms... Thank you for sharing this well expressed peace...Excellent dose of healing medicine. The Lord can work healings when we are prepared and acceptive. Hugs XX Joselyn
Kate , your own glowing energy, inspired by the pick me up of handsome young Doc and his own reassurance and attitude, tripled by the hoards of us who adore you and everything you do add to the will and zest in you to fight even the most unkind battles. Attitude is almost everything.
Much love and many ((Hugs)),
Taylor
Pray, believe, and have faith, for the bible tells us that faith is a substance unseen. My daughter was healed at the age of five from a serious bone disease, she is twenty two and healthy, my mother inlaw is a seventeen year survivor of cancer, my aunt is a breast cancer survivor...faith is the key and answer. We will pray as well and join in agreement that you will beat this with the grace of God! Hang in there and lean on friends for support and prayer.
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling

Hang on a mo, I thought you got the all clear. STUNNED..
The mind plays tricks with us to distract from what might be troublesome to us. Read my sshort story on a true miracle. My wifes survival of the deadly breast cancer as she was told. Prayer and a positive attitude is the medicine of the days ahead. God bless you.
You keep your chin up, your sense of humor, your faith both in God, and that good and young doctor, as well. And keep up the laughter. It is good medicine.
Ah sweet KATE I have no doubt that the youthful doctor was as captivated by your smile and flashing bright eyes as all the rest of us men folk you come in contact with. I am just glad all went well and we will have our sweet KATE with us for a long time to come.
Hugs across the big pond,
Kate - Your youthful doctor is probably more qualified than one older and tired of seeing it all. At this time you need a fresh approach, and any way it can happen is a PLUS. He's right; a laugh a day... or an hour... will help you to handle it. I have no advice, Dear Lady. But, close to that, might be for you to keep in mind that loving friends, miles and oceans apart, are concerned, along with you. You need such support, or you wouldn't have trusted us to know about it. And, surely, you know that we love you, Kiddo... so stick around. Thanx! - Bill
I am sure it made you feel better sis...it's hard to keep your cool I know...specially if you are having memory lpses and forgot you had underwear on saying "HANDS OFF"...now that something not to feel good about at all ....lol :)!!
This is a fabulous write on the human 'condition'. Your attitude is phenomenal Kate. Wishing you the best.

My wife has survived breast cancer for the past three years. Of course once there you will always be afraid it will recur. So humor is important factor even as a healing process. Your doctor must be a "freshman" trying to show off his knowledge. Victor
