Grab neck: ram handle up mouth Ol' Geyser
Stuff nostrils: rust-iron head Ol' Bugger
Then with hand up hole in hose
Grip hammer grandiose
Hammer an'tongs spill synapses Ol' Mailer

Monseigneur Don Ron, with all allowances - mental or factual - made in your favour (I was going to say psychological, as well), how do we know if Mailer - indeed a good writer by all accounts - didn't precipitate the "veridical" incidents intentionally. I don't see how he could have borne the hammer-hit which produced the sight of blood streaming down his skull (I grant rugby players suffer similar damage and yet continue playing unless required by the referees to quit the terrain), if he didn't want/provoke the high-voltage tension and drama to take effect before our eyes ! That's probably a stroke of genius, wouldn't you agree ?
The truth most probably is to be found in your suppressed wiliness in planning a film of similar authenticity by side-tracking the issues at stake: namely, using my "limerick" (who says it's not one ?) as a SCENARIO for an OSCAR-winning film of your own !!!
We can settle the endless nit-picking debates in court once and for all if you paid me a "lump-sum", say, a couple of million (I let you choose: euros, greenbacks or 2025-digital non-cash) right away. Failing which, I let you guess your fate.... Best, as usual. TW
Glad I gave you inspiration to write a poem (limerick?) again.
What I like about the whole affair was that it was not a staged fight with stunt people but a real one between one very angry Rip Torn when he found old Norman Mailer hitting on his wife like he did with every other woman on the retreat. Captive targets for his movie and his lust.
But if you ever read the dual meaning in, A Fire on the Moon, old Norm was a very good writer. Lousy director and film editor.
