Song poem written by my sister and myself as children.

This is about a Thanksgiving from my past and a song written by my sister Donna and myself as children. My sister has been a songwriter and musician for many years now. Donna and myself would spend hours upon hours making up songs in our childhood so we decided to write a song about Thanksgiving.

She was on the guitar and I was trying to play the violin. We thought this was going to be a BIG hit someday after all there were lots of Christmas songs. So with out further ado this ones for you Donna, my friend and sister, or as my son Jimmie would say, “ Aunt Donut is my special lady”. This one is for you Donut! Keep in mind this song is out of the mouth of babes!

~*TURKEY TOM*~

I’m gonna tell you a story about a little old turkey Tom. He had real pretty colors and his feathers were brown and long. Well one day he was strutting round the far-ar-ar-arm. And he ran into trouble, he met old farmer John. Well farmer John got an idea in his head. He got so worked up he reached for Tom and said.................................

Now little old Tom gonna chop right off your he-e-ead. You’d look mighty tasty next to ma’s Thanksgiving bread. Well Tom kinda smiled and took off as fast as he could go. But he tripped on a trap and it made him kinda slow. Well sometimes I think of that old Tom.....................

Donna and myself were happily singing and laughing in her room when great applause was heard! My parents were listening outside the door. We both about died of embarrassment as we chased our parents away. When I think of this now I think how supportive they were with our music later on in life.

Donna and myself were in the same band for many years and our mother was always there. This cute little older lady drinking a soda in a hard rock bar. So this article is for you Donut, don’t get too embarrassed!
