Poem Artwork

I traverse wearily the sands of the Red Planet

A survivor of a broken ,dejected  and disconsolate race

Swirling winds whip menacingly across the ancient desert

Fragmented dust and grime sting my half shut eyes

As I seek sanctuary in this Forbidden Land

Gathering myself in the shelter of an overhanging crag

Taking stock of why our troubled world had to die

Realising we were always in the eye of the storm

Of God's righteous wrath and scorn

How long did mankind think they had

Did they not see the writing on the wall

Or was it just one mad scramble for existence we dwell in

Or were we all just pawns in the inscrutable game

With no cohesion to see where we were going wrong

The dictum always being it will never happen to you or I

I quench my burning thirst with remaining liquid ration

Knowing I'm marooned in this desolate and barren landscape

Twas foresight and vision that gave me my escape route

And I know you can't hold back Armageddon

Because its written in the blood of the Mar... tyrs

And Mother Earth can no longer be seen circling above

It is a new strange vista and horizon that appears on the meridians

To acclimitize and adapt is my raison d'etre

Evolution is my new Watchword

I will not repeat the mistakes of Old

The Age of Aquarius will usher in the Return of Justice

And the Servant of Humanity will pour out the Libations of Knowledge

Upon the foreheads of the chosen ones

I bivouac down on the firm foundations below my tired and bruised feet

And meditate on all that has been and will be again

Mars is hushed in the silken silence of the deep purple night

And I will awaken refreshed in the Virgin Sylph Dawn

We are currently between worlds; the age of Capricorn has ended and the age of Aquarius is on its way. The decadent violence of the previous age has not ended yet. I may not be there in the flesh, but I cannot wait for the age of soothing promises to begin, for mankind's fatal ignorance to finally and conclusively end. Thank you for creating and sharing. Take care,

Very good! Excellent commentary on our society,
but somehow I don't think man can destroy this
earth but unfortunately I could be wrong. Scary!

"Swirling winds whip menacingly across the ancient desert" reminds me so much of the Harmattan wind, and I envision the Indian women riding in a padded box on top of a camel to shelter them from the harsh wind.

"Evolution is my new Watchword" triggers a Darwin metaphor for me, that being Survival of the Fittest.

There are so many intelligent and inspiring lines in this and I am anxious for Part Two. Good write, Peter. Takes us on a hologram mind journey.

A very somber, but very captivating write, Peter.

And I know you can't hold back Armageddon
Because its written in the blood of the Mar... tyrs

And those two lines are truly thought provoking. I often wonder if we could stop earth's destruction, even if we all truly wanted to - or if it's already too late.

But if anyone does make it to another world, you'd be a good choice to lead them, Peter.
