" Home Is Where The Heart Is "
..........................................................
The prodigal son
returns to the fold
his mother and father
so glad to have him back
the grass is always greener
on the other side
and independence always comes
with a costly price
you lose the intimacy
of your loved ones and kin
to forfeit it all
for experiences and thrills
but nothing is quite
like what you imagined
you scale the peak of anbition,
to find there's naught there
but more of the same before
you discover the taste of success
is not what you originally thought
what you gain on the swings
you lose on the roundabouts
you search for salvation
amongst the crowds and throng
stranger's faces and bizarre places
lost in the facade of illusion
and you realise to your cost
there ain't no lasting comfort to be found
looking at the bottom of a glass
working for the man, from noon to night
your money all gone before you know
nothing but trouble and strife appears
no welcoming arms to greet you at night
till suddenly you come to understand
it's time to cut your losses, and turn back round
quit the madness and despair
return to your roots straight away
you'll always find happiness there
so be content with your lot today
and remember my admonition dear heart
there's no place like home
