A Sad Commentary

<>

The party grew stagnant
with the odiferous stench
of  a few crybaby’s on the playground

He did this
she did that
they cried to the principal

But no-one really knew or cared
Most were there to have fun

An outlet from life’s scheduled tasks
A time to imagine and create

But the cries grew louder

Many tried to ignore them
But for others, their whining
reached a crescendo
that pierced the veil of fantasy
And the poison they spewed
gave way to
a new awakening

A moment of clarity
sustained and strengthened
through the ultimate realization
that the party
and the playground
should be theirs alone

For it is their world
The only world in which they can exist

Unable to thrive beyond its boundaries
The walls that hold them
built from their own insecurities

They need cry no more

For inside such a small world
they truly are the victims

you are so right and yes it is so sad

Yes, some people are so desperate to be the center of attention that they twist and turn themselves into emotional contortionists, hoping something, even the bizarre, will give them the attention they think they and they alone deserve. Very sad indeed. The one's who really do need help are often never seen or heard. They wear their burdens on the inside, never sharing their pain. ~ Sara

I think you are absolutely correct with the message in this poem. Way too much damn sensitivity going on these days. thank you.

Edwin, I now just what you mean! It's hard to teeter-totter with some idiot standing beneath the other end beating themselves in the head with it...now isn't it?
Only when they start yelling it's my fault...I'm gonna give them reason to yell.
Grand write Edwin!

I just started a new job and for the past two weeks have been way beyond insecure...but found if I doubled up on my anti-depressants boy do I feel better...LOL! I may not have captured the meaning, but when do I ever, sorry...;) Missed you of late, ed & rufuz

the sad reality is that we are all victims of insercurity, even to the point where we become insecure of other's insecurities ... i believe we should be in-secure, unassumptive and then are free from taking things personally ...

Sandy,
The "victims" cries were in faux, to gain attention, rally support, and control the playground. Hence, "no-one knew or cared". The 'metaphoric' playground represents an inconsequential, or fabricated enviroment which ultimately entraps those who wish to control it. In short, its about those who should get the 'help' they need, and not piss on everyone else.

Personally, I don't see how anyone can stand by, laughing, partying, while someone is crying, in pain... but your commentary is accurate for much of what we see today, isn't it?

I find it very sad that some were only there to have fun and not know or care about someone crying out for help. Guess we all see things from different perspectives, and perhaps I have misunderstood your message. This line, with the final commentary about 'victims' leaves me with a not-so-warm feeling. Please let me know if I have misread your message.

This is awesome writing, Edwin. Your clear vision shines like a beacon in the night through the mire of the lies and deceit that poisons the party for the rest of the attendees. There is always at least one "all about me" person who feels that his or her personal trials and tribulations should be heard above everyone else’s and will stop at nothing to make their point.
Take care,
Sherry
