To a friend..

sweet lingering presence

in the darkness of the void I hear your words

echoed in the empty walls of longing

I reach for you in the mists of time

you are not there

yet you are

a lingering presence of what might have been

a tear-drop burns a trail of loss and pain

so close, so close yet walls too high

left me with a longing for a touch

you are not there yet you are

a lingering presence of what might have been

moral superiority strikes at life’s passion

robs the romance from the soul

leaves a longing never fulfilled

you are not there

yet you are

a lingering presence of what might have been

sometimes we reflect upon our lives and wonder what might have been until we realize what's important is when we wonder what might will be ... just a thought ... i found this poem very emotionally stimulating ...

I know we can't live by what might have been, but we can still hope that some day we might have it. Beautifully written. Karen

Felix,
We can always feel the presence of those we care about and love. Whether they are physically with us or not.
A touching and tender write from your heart.

Outstanding write Felix, the depth of this moved my spirit. I walked this walk with you. Anytime I read a piece where I find myself walking in spirit with the writer...I reflect in awe of the power of the written word...excellent my friend.
