Beechy Island Voyage
Where the Erubus and Terror grounded in the frozen sea
I sailed aboard the Labrador the good captain crew and me
We trod upon the very beach where so many years before
Brave Franklin met his timely death we now know this for sure
On the beach at Beechy Island in Canada’s frozen cap
Five graves mark the bodies where five men forever nap
Their graves solemnly marked by faded ship’s wood stand
Amazingly it has stood the test of time in this barren land
I even found old tin cans they say death lead poison came
That day I captured in my heart a sense wonder on that shore
That man should seek for knowledge instead of waging war

"That man should seek for knowledge instead of waging war"
Lessons hard and too often never learned.
