Sweet sadness touches all of us at one time in our lifes or another or perhaps some more often than others...

Poem Artwork

The Sad Cost…

My pain and hers took separate paths

When they finally agreed to disagree

Mine went east and hers went west

That was the all that I could see

The North wind blew my tears her way

I hoped she’d hear my heartaches’ cry

The South wind brought her comfort

In the whisper of another’s sigh

I watched awhile till eyesight blurred

My tears rained down on linen cold

Played and replayed the game what if

Trying to hold on to memories of old

So I shared my soul with deep regret

Shared my heart with chances lost

Shared my tears with the salt beach air

As I tallied up what my pride cost.

Oh yes, PRIDE, the little word that has since the beginning of time has caused many a heartbreak. If only we could go back and undo that which we did and have a second chance sometimes to make all, right. Beautifully written.
Love & hugs to you and your's dear cuz.

Oh my goodness, Felix... THIS IS YOUR ABSOLUTE BEST, in my book and is like teardrops wrought in liquid gold. Perhaps it is the picture, which tears my heart. But this is one achingly crucible write and the mood and effect are awesome, to say nothing of the imagery. Pulsating in its pain. Be well and rise up, please... An Ode to Lady Ocean next... LOL Kate xx

You captured feelings many people go through, making the personal universal. Letting go is hard.

The cost of chance taken can not be measured in this life time. You touched on a real important part of a relationship here. To agree to disagree. Pride is but a part of being human. Our souls carry our real worth. Good write. Lady J

A sad yet beautiful story of realizing what we had, too late, after it's gone. Many can relate to this, Fee. Well done.

Some people get more than their share of heartaches.

The picture alone is enough to make me sad. You sure know how to communicate sadness and heartache.
Somehow, I am reminded of the song "Vic" sang in church this morning, "Take Me to the Cross." Some heartaches are so great that only Jesus can comfort the grieving one.

(((Fee))),

Much sadness in these lines, especially in,

"...The South wind brought her comfort
In the whisper of another's sigh. ...." The cost almost too much to bear.

Hope this is fiction, but have a feeling it's not...powerfully poignant writing here.

((((((HUGS)))))), love and prayer, Karla. :(
