The wind howled cold and hard last night and this was the story my muse send on its tail...

Poem Artwork

White Birch Blues

By: Fee

Chorus:

The North wind howls out its lonely

The windowpanes rattle their pain

Wood stoves eating up birch logs

I hear that lonesome cry of a train

My baby is gone off to West Coast

I’m stuck on the East battling snow

I broke a guitar string this morning

Singing “Lord I wish she didn’t have to go”

I don’t know whatever possessed me

Traded her love for the thrill of one night

Love silenced in temptations silk sheets

Now emptiness is all that’s in sight

Unread love letters sit on the dresser

Held together with a ribbon of pride

Next Monday we were to be married

Foolishly I just stood there and sighed

Final Chorus:

Now the North wind cries out its lonely

The window- panes rattle their pain

The woodstove is eating up Birch logs

And I’m slowly but surely going insane…

Alone and lonesome -- excellent expressed. Fire suggesting warmth without abating the forlornness. R

Very melodic, though it's sad. I love the chorus as well, Fee. I picture you there close to the campfire, hating it that a string broke but too melancholic to take the time to fix it.
I just can't see you going insane. You're too strong and you're needed.
Love,
Becca~

Ahh Felix I can see you now sitting by the fire, lights down low, even with a broken string singing your love heart blues. Another drink of Sheariden and thinks will start looking better. Thank you for a wonderful song.

Love ya face Cuz XOXO, Rose
