No I am not planning on dying any time soon...just with the loss of a lot of friends and family, and a sleepless night...these thoughts came to me.

Poem Artwork

My Final Wish Would Be…

Lay me down on a pillow of soft green grass

Gaze at my life not through some smoky glass

Cover me in a sky of azure blue with white

Let the wind pick up my spirit in the night

Strum a guitar softly and sing a song or two

Smile a smile and know that 's what I ‘d do

For I lived, I laughed, I loved for many years

So don’t cry for me for I’ve no need of your tears

Just turn to the one who’s standing next in line

Someone you can count on to be there every time

May their love help ease the sadness in your heart

I hope they’ll remind you kindred spirits never part…

That is my final wish as I prepare to face

 the Dawn that soon will

call my name…

... typical of your massive heart, Felix... always thinkin of the pain of those left behind to mourn! You speak of the beauty and solace of your own loving actions. Be it done for you according to your wishes and as you have always done for others... BUT CERTAINLY NOT YET!! :)) File this away for posterity and into your W.A.I.L pile... Worry About It Later! Yes, the kindredness we feel will always make us feel as close as the shadow on the wall. Lovely thoughts - so peaceful. Kate xx

How peaceful and warm this write is -- nothing like death. I am a softy and wish that we would all live life eternally. But such as life it -- its not to be, but oh what a way you wish to go. Well written.

Beautiful! And since I can't come up with an apropriate response, I offer you one from 'Christina Rosetti' (1830-1894)
It's called 'Song'

When I'm dead my dearest,
sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head,
Nor shady cypres tree:
Be the green grass above me,
with showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
and if thou wilt, forget.

I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on, as if in pain:
And dreaming though the twillight
That doth not rise nor set,
HaplyI may remember,
And haply may forget.

Much Love,
Becca~

I know the feeling well, guess it is something that happens to all of us sooner or later as we grow older, but I am grateful every morning when I wake up and am given the opportunity by God to live it....

Be always safe,
Karen

Fee,
Such peaceful imagery! This is a beautiful poem and a gentle vision. I love the line "I hope they'll remind you kindred spirits never part..." Reminds me of "Anne of Green Gables". Love and Hugs~

Wishing NOT

Lay me not in ground to rot
to feed the beasts within earth--
a vault is no guarantee.
Saw, in a cemetery,
the caskets rise ... holes flooded.
Brother-in-law reburied.

Wishing not to have a plot,
to have tears shed upon me,
flowers not given in this life.

Lay me not in urns, ashes,
nobody wants to carry.
It'd be best to scatter me
upon a hill, the valley
with flowers to swoon in glee.
Love me now while I'm alive.

Wishing not to have a plot,
let me from planes' belly soar
to wing, soar, forevermore.

I KNOW where I'm going--don't want to wait for my body to rise.
See what you did? Grisly subject; death and the aftermath but, hey, we all have to go sometime or another.

If we don't meet before then, may I suggest we met by the River of Life! There's GOT to be one!

Well said Fee. I note with interest that I'm about as bald and whited bearded as your self, and I too am ready for "the dawn that soon will call my name." I just didn't have those beautiful words. May I say you speak for both of us?

Not up to us as to when we breathe our last, but this is the way I'd want to go - except for the wind picking up my spirit LOL - well done. Beautifully penned compassion -

This is a very beautiful way to leave when our time is up. Once our souls depart from here we are in need of nothing except a prayer or two. Yes the ones left behind will feel a loss, but life does go on.
Wonderful write cuz.
