Poem Artwork

In A Dark House

By: Fee

In a dark house I stumble blindly

Through corridors of bitter tears

Past doors to rooms of sadness

Others locked to hold in fears

This house contains no warmth

As I race from floor to floor

Looking for some trace or glimmer

Of what it used to be before

It’s cold as the snows of December

Shivering I feel the floorboards groan

Write my name in dust on a window

As outside the winds shriek and moan

I sit in a straight-backed kitchen chair

All that’ left of what used to be

Close my mind and drift into isolation

Could this finally be the end of me…

Intense. I know this feeling. No this will not be your end. You are loved by those darlings that bring you burnt toast. They are counting on you also. You have a purpose in life if nothing more than being there for those precious ones. Your poem is superb with intense emotions and honest searching for love in your soul. It's there. I've seen too much of it. Excellent. Liz

I love this, has so many great things about it-the parallels of houses in the wood and stone sense, and in the body housing sense, it touches on both with an eerie sadness and shows your skill at your craft. excellent work, Fee

Wow, I certainly hope this was just a dream of past revelations!! You have too much to do in this lifetime, you will not be gone very soon, Fee, just know you are loved and thought of everyday.
Peace, love, and light,

Your words have captured many painful
emotions and loneliness and confusion
But no it does not need to be the end
Remember there is always darkest
Before the light!
Truly unique I love it!!!

Your words paint pictures of loneliness, and yet this is so beautiful. I'm in awe.

"Close my mind and drift into isolation
Could this finally be the end of me…"

A meloncholy poem that reveals lonliness, but should not be "the end of...". Life is much too precious cancel out; pray this is an imaginative poem, and you are fine, Fee!

You are such a wonderful writer Cuz and I do love to read everything you have to offer. How about a table with some bright flowers a bottle of wine on chill and candles with a romantic dinner just for two. Sometimes we have to make the changes to improve what surrounds us. I am a bit old fashion but I have always believed it takes at least two to make or break a situation. Thank you for sharing a great write.

Love ya face Cuz XOXOXO, Rose

Words that many share I fear as they sit alone in their homes. You penned exactly what despair must look like. Well Done, Deborah

Well,, I would not enter this in the 'Poetic Home for Rent' challenge. However, it is not the end,, It just needs to be warmed up some how,,
I think a bouquet of flowers will fill the house with beauty and sweet auroma,,, and a pot of coffee with a few mugs is just the ticket!

I love the "floorboards" line and the "writing in dust" line - the whole piece flows so well and sets a very definite mood; I thoroughly enjoyed this, Fee! So glad you chose to post it!

Fee, I see that you saw inside my childhood house, although, that chair was facing a walls corner and there wasn't so much light!
To some, this poem will tell them that those horrible years weren't a dream, that it really happened and that it is time to at least try to let it go.
Powerfull, very powerful.

The description works well as a metaphor of isolation and sadness. I like the poem. Maybe you could change the picture: it's powerful, but there is too much light. I think you may need something darker.
