I am breaking one of my own rules today, I usually never post more than one poem a day but I needed to get these thoughts out of my head and so I hope you forgive me for offering more than I normally do over the last two days... writing is my therapy.

Poem Artwork

The Show Must Go On

By: Felix L. Perry

I memorized my lines of darkened thoughts

Imprisoned by this role of life betrayed

In limps the humbled caricature of man

With curtains drawn he stands there afraid

I hear the audience fidgeting in their seats

I’ll be judged to be found wanting once again

I’ll be abused while they’re amused in style

So close they think that I must be legally insane

Cue cards say to lie, to wear their phony smile

How dare I disrupt their rosy world this way?

Just be another dancing jester on their stage

If they see me smile then they will feel okay

Ah, but in the wings there’s one who cares

While other’s ill at ease discreetly sit apart

When the curtain calls I hear her applause

As she writes my  critique from the heart…

A scan through different emotions Fee. Very nicely done., I don't mind if you share more than one poem a day. They are all wonderful and I enjoy them'

Dear Felix, I am sorry for the loss that prompted this poem. I pray that the God of all comfort has begun the tendious work of mending a heart that has loved deeply and lost much.

A nice range of emotions in this poem. It seems to go from fear and anxiety to bitterness and resentment to a small ray of sunshine. Excellent work, Fee.

Love it. Really gets to the brunt of some of the things we feel compelled to do and why. The one waiting in the wings. Liz

Well, I am glad you broke your rule. This is a really neat poem. Lots of places where this plays out on many stages and we must always play to the "crowd" who guides our heart :-)

I too rarely comment on more than one poets works but I do make exceptions every now and then and this was one of them and when the spirit moves you to write do it. The grand stage of life that we find ourselves on is one to be honest with our selves and the truth will set you free.

This is very enigmatic and well written....it was a piece that obviously needed to get out and share itself...I'm glad it did...
Who is really the actor here?.....

Fee,

Sometimes I write as many as four stories a day; you have nothing to apologize for! When the muse speaks, jump on it; you may never get that chance again! WRITE on!

(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :D

I go days or weeks without a post, then wham! So, I surely understand when you or anyone posts whatever they need. There are times I admit, when one or two will post so many pieces in one day that it's impossible to catch up...while they NEVER read or review...so I am more persnickety about who I read or how many...You my dear...I shall always read because your talent is genuine; and you are so encouraging to others as well! Great writing here.. thank you, hugs, lindalaw
