This poem came to me a while ago and just getting to post it it is for all the young lover's who dream of weddings and end up standing at a graveside instead. I'd also just like to say thank you for all the messages, condolences and prayers sent to me on the recent loss of my mother in law. Thank you all, your support truly helped.

Poem Artwork

Red Bride

By: Felix Perry

Red bride stands at the alter

Her sheath dress in blood red

Slices the white of altar cloth

Like a bayonet slashes dead

Chapel bells ring in the valley

Children giggle, mother’s cry

Father’s stand frozenly silent

All he can do is wonder why

A piper played the last post

As a drummer beats the score

Red bride alone at the alter

Lost in the cracks in the floor

Red bride sheds liquid diamonds

Holding wilted roses in her hand

The sun glitters on a promise

She just will never understand

In her mind the organ plays

“I Love You truly”

Instead of “Amazing Grace”

Red bride frozen at the alter

Graveyard soil on silk and lace…

Very cool poem- love the picture-- i have always wanted to get married in a red dress, though it would just about kill my poor mother, lol-some great imagery here, for sure-you never cease to amaze me with where you go when you write :) Michelle

This is chilling and so sad, Fee. Most effective in giving this reader goosebumps and a sorrowful view. So well written ... and again, my deepest sympathy on your loss...you remain in my thoughts and prayers ~ Elizabeth

Was invited once, in Singapore, to a Chinese wedding where the bride was wearing red (as it's the custom) but that was a very happy occasion.
Your poem get inside the bone marrow and freezes it.
Well done!!!

Oh Fee, how this brings tears and sadness as I know this has happened before to so many and still continues today. My heart cries for you as well because of all the sadness and loss you and your family have had to endure. You all remain in my prayers....

Be always safe,
