The Ride of the Zombie and the Crone

By: Felix L. Perry

Into Armageddon’s shadow drift the zombie and the crone

Riding on the beasts of burden, where fear rides all alone

Winds whip at the rags of clothes crusted deep with grime

Mangy wolves snarl then bay at moon knowing evil’s time

While the Padre locks and bolts chapel door no sanctuary there

Humanity’s hypocrisies no longer sing psalms on midnight air

Zombie holds the book of dead, the crone the sword of might

Festered sores, blood seeped pores…bleached voices in night

Nay, no repentance will glow nor stop fowl the demon’s spawn

Fear it and accept the side you chose and the filth thy stepped upon

As zombie and crone kiss blood gorged goodnight to ride back to the bowels of hell

Too late for thee to bend thy knee o’er your name etched with parchment quill

Zombie and the crone rode out to feast till sated together sleep

‘til heaven quake and demons wake there be more souls to reap

Felix I don't like scary and dark, although I have to admit whatever you write is great, now you owe us a little romance.

|Love ya face Cuz XOXOXO, Rose

Dark it may be but with a form of gratuitous realism about it that is chilling... more so than gorey fantasies, if you get my drift. You have found a strong voice and very metred form which pounds your message home. We may love wafting about in the many shades of grey while the going's good... but we're funneling down to where it can only get more black and white. Scary stuff, Felix... but then, perhaps we need it. xx

Very creepy, Fee! Actually, this is an interesting blend of delightfully creepy and unsettlingly sinister! You've got the season's mysterious ambiance running cold through your veins. I need a Felix LeRoy Perry romance poem to clear the aftertaste and calm my nerves ~

Creepy and dark indeed.
I somehow feel this sets the tone for my day today.
I'll face an interesting cast of characters.
At least it is not Monday.
Fine writing as always.

Of all places! Where were you when the Dark Castle in Sweden opened its doors and you could have descended the stone stairs to the dungeon vowels oh darker poet of perdition???
If Santa Fee start talking like that in a month or so, it will be a stampede of brats like no one ever!
