The angry seas can be as cruel and unforgiving on a stormy night as the soft sands can be kind and inviting on a warm sunny day...

Poem Artwork

tumulus

by: Felix L. Perry

tumulus is the night when…

the oceans and the winds

framed in mourning sins

cause calm to be a dream away

lighthouse shrouded rays fails

when misty moonlight pales

and sunlight takes  a holiday

splashed white froth on rock

lost shipwrecked spirits talk

on bended knee it’s time to pray

high in tower the keeper weeps

his sea mistress never sleeps

the un-weary to be led astray

restless spectral ghosts of night

vengefully enshrined immortal light

oh, how tumulus is the night…

You are the best at discribing mariner life and the shores of destiny. The ladies of the seafarers had dedicated hearts and faith in their men. My own mother, Kathryn, was one of them.
Awesome Mister Fee.

I don't often get to the ocean, Felix, though I love it so. And, I've always been more drawn to the northerly reaches (Maine and such) than the southerly ones, so I'm ever-intrigued by your world - a world you present so beautifully, so romantically. Your words are infused with the same energy carried in on the tide.

Beautifully crafted write, Fee. Whether the sea is peaceful and calm, or stormy and angry, she is still my greatest source of inspiration! I love her tumultuous personality, and I really enjoyed this poem.

Your seafaring soul pours out in this gem and the art work is excellent also and adds to the calm before the storm.

The usage here fascinates me!
I see this as "a total opposite of..." for it is in the morning light, when usually "things" DO seem better and brighter...but, your morning, is mourning in a fog and still sea-ing BAD! LOL! By the second stanz, all the obvious nautical aides have taken vacation to come to YOUR rescue!...You were really BAD, Fee!

So, he prays now...hmmm?

The waves like bending knees, white froth upon THE rock...like SPIT! You should be spit upon, but God knows your weak! :) AND!...BUT!... what does Fee do in the last stanz? Like having a hangover and going back out to drink...over and over, over and over, like waves...like waves "on bending knee"... begging's for forgiveness on the sands...BUT, what does Fee do? He goes back out for more! tumulus! ugh! Sorry, I had to go on! You sea, that vengeful spirits of yours "drunked" me in!
Love, love, love this!
Love and Peace~

Your poem and your photo go so well together. I can hear the Sea Mistress right now, calling and enticing and yearning for you!
Love this, Fee, of course you have all the elements in this one. Sea, Sea Mistress, the moon, the lighthouse and most of all your mystical words that are so soothing.

Peace, love, and light,
Amber "V"

The symbolism in this piece voices the notorious dark before the dawn! Sometimes we can only but wait until the night passes and remain still until the sun brings clarity yet once again!
Its a wonderful piece! i can almost see the faint lighthouse and feel the misty fog upon my face.
very ominous!

Seas mistress, her voice can be hear on a peacefully summer night or her angry banshee howling on a winter storm, when she shows her cold heart.
