The Ballad of Princess Neptiona

On the once calm shores of Pandicotta

On stallion black rode the bachelor King

To seek the mermaid Princess called Neptiona

To offer her his hand and a golden ring

“Sweet Neptiona I have oft dreamt of you

Almost each and every longing night

I am told that true love’s kisses

Will allow you to walk with me in light”

“I offer you my hand and my kingdom

Let thee kiss my lips and come be my bride

Leave behind the chill of these ocean’s depths

Now to my castle we shall both ride”

She hung her head and cried her briny tears

“Sir I owe allegiance to my father good King Neptune

Kind sir I cannot leave here to be your bride

It would only lead both our hearts to ruin…”

The jilted king did draw his sword in anger

to take the life of Mermaid Princess fair

Her aqua blood did tint the waters

Twas that very night King Neptune found her there

He commanded all the latent fury of the oceans

He ordered all the black magic of the sea

He rained down the curse of Mother Nature

Revenge the death of Neptiona’s and set her poor soul free

The King of Pandicotta hastened on his homeward journey

Watched the skies turn to death’s own ebon hue

Afraid now he rode like the wind across the causeway

Relieved finally Pandicotta's castle came in view

Alas King Neptune’s tidal wave brought thunderous justice

Washed the loathsome King Pandicotta from his stead

Unleashed all the misfit beasts of the ocean

They took such sweet revenge, oh yes indeed

Now some say on the shores of  Lake Pandicotta

On a full moon night if you listen you will hear

The ghost of the Mermaid Princess Neptiona singing

And  King Pandicotta last scream of stark fear…
