Just late night thoughts...

Poem Artwork

Trapped in inky black space of a once empty heart

Lies the purgatory where all romance sins reside

bathed in the brine of raw un-forgiven teardrops

wrongs preserved in the sustenance of ego’s pride

he said, she said rules are written in the moment

I don’t want to play anymore this silly game

say your prayers for me on that hallowed ground

but know I’ll stand tall not hang my head in shame

atonement is unattainable in this morass of sadness

old scars coarse and hoary with age of years cast

the fortunate find mercy in the kiss of new love

some may bridge love’s solitude of surrendered  past

some don cold capes of invincibility against hurt

others look away wearing a smile as false disguise

push the acidic pain away into the Hades of denial

knowing that their pretensions are ill concealed lies…

and I?

I will go on to live love and laugh…for what else is there?

What a ballad this would make besides being excellent poetry that carves your emotions on the readers mind and leaves a lasting imprint.

Fee,,,I really like what Vickie had to say...Yes...to live, love and laugh is a great plan, but what else is there? unfortunately tears and sadness play into our lives as well, it is just the way it is...and if one did not have heart it would be easy,,but you my friend have the biggest heart of all :)
Hugs,
Chrissie

and I join you Fee in authenticity
love does not harm others
nor does love cast shackles
love is knowing the freedom to love above oneself
and all games are mere losers to their own foolishness
where no trap can keep love's wings

"...atonement is unattainable in this morass of sadness..." where your only hope is to continue to descend the winding and cold stone stairs going down to the dungeons were you will be assure that hope is an Utopia.

Yes, heavy thoughts, Fee. Thought-provoking. This does feel sad throughout. Maybe the words of someone feeling a little steamrolled by life. Or maybe my current view of life has me reading it that way. lol. Great poem.

I admire the honesty in your ponderings Fee. The heart is a resillient muscle and it gets beat to death and then continues to beat. Man! I wish I were as strong as some hearts!
I've missed you Fee.
Love and Blessings,
Susan
