Dancing Alone By: F. Perry Wallflower watching others dance Last waltz played a song well known I stand there holding only empty air Please tell me why… I’m dancing all alone Song lingers like a favorite dream My heart feels like cold hard stone You were the reason for its beating Please tell me why… I’m dancing all alone Want to cry but ran out of teardrops Maybe I should have stayed at home I used to think that we had everything Please tell me why… I’m dancing all alone Lights dim, bartender says last call Band starts packing up to go home Drag my feet and drag my broken heart But please, please, tell me why… I’m dancing all alone!

My belief, my hope, is that this is only muse. Though as poets we know to relate with this much passion more often than not requires us to draw upon empirical data. Dancing solo is an experience we do not wish for. Yet dancing with a beautiful memory is to be in a special place. I bid you love and peace my dear friend. Jon Michael

Fee, as I've come to know, you often times write from a bystander�s point of view and I'm ever so hopeful that is the case with this one. Either way, it's a well written piece telling a very sad tale that too many of us have lived.

Fee, I can so relate as I have been left alone while he danced with my friend right next to me. Hurt so bad I cried all night...I would pick up the phone and find out why? No one should have to dance alone unless they choose to. Take care my friend. :)

Ah, the common wail of many a lost lover's song, Felix. I left Dallas once with that same wail. Stopped in a roadside juke joint to drink it away. After awhile and after I played all the sad songs on the juke box the barmaid said, it can't be that bad. I told her my story and she said the drinks are on me. True story. I was in such a funk she couldn't even get me to go home with her.

So very sad...the breakdown of a relationship is always so painful, especially when it is one sided..You have captured the heavy aching heartedness of it all, and the loneliness and the questioning WHY...I find the line 'Drag my feet and drag my broken heart' very evocative....
