My ship drifts aimless as if rudderless,
Bold strokes of white froth oér blue sea
Sails droop, trapped in doldrums’ calm
Many miles from home, nary sign of shore
Sailors mourn chant, an albatross curse
Captain orders ignored heartsick want
Mere mortal man toss on the mystic sea
Sailors in rigging hear lonely siren’s song
Avast we see her white skin on green scale
A temptation no jolly tar could dare resist
Twill be death mayhap below the sea but
T’would be heaven to kiss a mermaid’s lips
But hell may will be…thy soul’s reward!
At times, "...My ship drifts aimless..." too, but I think your drifting is more productive than mine. Nothing this nice has ever come from any of mine.
When I wrote ths book in 2000, I was concerned about children having access to the Internet and to chat rooms where "you can be anyone you want." Here we are many years later and the situation with children talking freely to stangers on the Internet
